Here are some Tips of the Trade for other groups wanting to follow the example of those listed above, to ensure successful and effective site recycling:

  • Get started early with your planning on the trash front
  • Organize a strong and committed GREEN TEAM committee that will lead the plan and champion  your event’s recycling cause
  • Gather a reliable and enthusiastic group of Green Team volunteers to oversee the stations, collect, sort and store clean recycling streams during the event
  • Talk to vendors to ensure they are using and distributing materials that can go into your event’s recycling program
  • Work closely with your service provider to tailor a recycling program that will maximize your diversion efforts during the event
  • Make sure you TRACK AND RECORD your diversion results – these are great bragging points for your organization and provide a benchmark for next year’s planning

From the die hard trash-trenchers at RA we congratulate all of the festivals and public events in the city this summer who are doing their part to reduce and divert waste at these amazing community gatherings that are such a big part of Vancouver’s summer landscape!
