Job Title: Outside Sales Rep

Who You Are:

About this position:
The Outside Sales Representative is responsible for outside sales results through lead generation, creating and implementing sales plans, carrying out sales functions and providing sales and marketing information to support planning and achievement of company goals. The majority of the Representative’s time will be spent out of the office generating leads and closing sales.

Main Duties:

  • Implement annual sales strategy and plans to achieve business goals and sales objectives
  • Identify, develop, and maintain sales opportunities
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with potential customers, and relevant industry representatives to generate ongoing referrals and leads
  • Use a strategic sales process to assess needs and qualify prospects, provide information, prepare quotations/proposals, answer questions, overcome objections and close sales
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of all documentation including required activity reports using the CRM
  • Strive to promote and exemplify RA’s social and environmental policies


  • 5 years of new business B2B sales experience
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills (written and verbal)
  • Knowledge of CRMs and basic computer skills
  • Interest in sustainability and best environmental practices

Terms of Employment: Permanent, Full Time, Weekdays. Some evening work required for events
Benefits: 50% Medical/Dental after 6 months of full-time employment
Remuneration: Living Wage Base Salary plus commission and bonus structure. Car Allowance and Phone Compensation.

This position requires use of a vehicle and a valid driver’s license. Most customers are within the Lower Mainland but some overnight travel may be required.

Job Title: Fleet Mechanic

The Recycling Alternative is a fast growing, locally owned and operated company that provides recycling programs and pick-up services to offices, businesses and restaurants throughout the Lower Mainland since 1989.

Title: Fleet Mechanic
Terms of Employment: Full Time
Benefits: 50% medical/dental after 6 months; subsidized transit pass.
Start Date: Immediately

As the Fleet Mechanic you will be responsible for the maintenance of Recycling Alternative’s (RA) vehicle fleet and warehouse equipment. The successful candidate will possess excellent time management skills, be comfortable in an indoor/outdoor setting and be fluent in English, written and spoken. As RA’s Mechanic you will work closely with the warehouse staff and drivers to ensure their equipment is maintained to a level of safety which meets our standards.  You will be responsible for servicing the fleet of vehicles and arranging for external servicing as needed. Must be a flexible team player in a changing operational environment.

We want to hear from you if:

  • You have a passion for green enterprise, renewable and sustainable practices and working with proprietary equipment
  • You are experienced with cube vans, 1-5 ton trucks and diesel engine maintenance
  • You have experience and extensive knowledge of forklifts, balers, general facility equipment, electronic troubleshooting and a basic understanding of engineering
  • You have serviced or maintained hydraulic systems
  • You possess excellent troubleshooting skills
  • You possess a high regard for safe work practices
  • Possess a valid Class 5 license and mechanical certifications.
  • Understand machine processes as well plc programming.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the Operations Manager, the Fleet Mechanic is responsible for preventive and reactive vehicle fleet and warehouse equipment maintenance and makes the necessary repairs in-house or on location. The incumbent is responsible and accountable for (but not limited to) the following:

  • Perform preventive maintenance tasks according to set schedules, for all machinery, equipment, trucks and vehicle fleet;
  • Advise supervisor regarding equipment state and proposed changes in schedule;
  • Perform necessary repairs to the fleet for all mechanical and electrical systems, as well as warehouse equipment and facilities, according to Repair Requests and supervisor’s prioritization;
  • Document, store and archive records of purchase and work performed;
  • Research and recommend external contractors for work that needs outsourcing;
  • Responsible for the Lock-out / Tag-out process as implemented;
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose and complete repairs on all types of vehicles;
  • Perform preventative maintenance on fleet and truck maintenance to maintain accurate records;
  • Respond to service calls;
  • Maintain tools and a clean work area;
  • Pick up and deliver vehicles from vendors across the lower mainland;
  • Assist with the transportation or warehouse operation when needed;

Knowledge of the Recycling Industry and personal commitment to recycling an asset.

Job Title: Recycling Truck Driver

Terms of Employment: Permanent, Full Time. We operate 7 days per week

Salary: competitive wages, based on experience
Benefits: 50% medical/dental after 6 months; subsidized transit pass after 3 months

Skill Requirements:

  • Experience driving one-tonne cube van, or similar
  • Fluent English, written and spoken
  • Must be able to complete paperwork; Driver logbook, Vehicle Inspection Report (pre-trip/post-trip), Maintenance and repair reports, Accident or incident reports
  • Must be Bondable, willing to undergo a Criminal Records Check, Drivers Abstract (Abstract to be provided before first day worked, preferably provided upon submission of resume, or if interviewed)

Additional Requirements:

  • Must own or be able to acquire Steel Toed Boots for first day of work
  • Must have a valid class 5 drivers licence and safe driving record
  • A good knowledge of the Greater Vancouver area
  • Willing to work as a team and take direction accordingly
  • Knowledge of Recycling Industry and personal commitment to recycling an asset

Job Description: As a Recycling Alternative Driver, you will be responsible for the collection of recycled materials from businesses. You will also be responsible for the loading and unloading of materials, planning travel schedules and routes, using maps and other trip planning aids if needed, receive and relay information to central dispatcher, drive smaller, special purpose trucks, monitor vehicle performance and mechanical fitness. You will be the liaison for representing the company to our customers and therefore, customer service is of utmost importance in this role.

Job Title: Warehouse Forklifter and General Worker

Reporting to and taking direction from the Warehouse Floor Supervisor, the warehouse forklifter and general worker positions are responsible for maintaining the condition and flow of warehouse and materials in the warehouse and yard.

This position rotates through various tasks throughout the day such as:

Forklifting, loading and off-loading trucks, operating balers for cardboard, paper and plastics, sorting materials as required, tipping totes of materials, tote washing.


  • Forklift certified ideal, but not required
